“A new digital media regime is emerging in Mexico. The image, or Narco-execution video, has become a tool for war. Mexican drug cartels stage and perform violence for the camera, and disseminate the videos through social media. This visual system challenges us to reconsider how we perceive and regulate the power relationships across digital and physical space. What we can learn through them will directly influence, for the better or for the worse, the future of war.” – Roberto Gomez Hernandez
