Say It Out Loud (detail), 2012
Steel and brass

Pataky frequently employs words in her pieces to convey the complexity of the human condition and the poignant emotional space that exists between ourselves and others. Say It Out Loud is a series of hand-bent metal words in phonetics, where viewers have to sound out the spelling to understand which word is being referenced, prompting a physical internalization of the positive and negative words presented.
