“This collection of writing is from an online forum where people write down their dreams. Carl Jung suggested in regards to documenting dreams:

“I should advise you to put it all down as beautifully as you can — in some beautifully bound book. It will seem as if you were making the visions banal — but then you need to do that — then you are freed from the power of them… Then when these things are in some precious book you can go to the book & turn over the pages & for you it will be your church — your cathedral — the silent places of your spirit where you will find renewal."

Mimicking the calligraphy of Jung's own dream book, I have transcribed these online dreams, and intricately dissected the negative spaces with an Exact-o knife. Are these dreams an example of our collective anxieties? A reflection of all of the negative messages we are bombarded with on a daily basis? Or just an inconclusive window into the unconscious. This re-creation is an extended investigation into people's inner lives and the ways they express their thoughts through writing.” – Annie Vought
