I find maps useful when I'm lost, but they don't correspond to a place at all for me. There's a promise in a map that it somehow represents whatever location it depicts, but in some ways it represents everything outside of being someplace. Like instructions for how to use your iPhone. Many of the maps in this piece began as depictions of places I have known. Together they couldn't be more useless. Tucker Nichols
