No, I Never Went Back, 2019
Photographic print byproduct

No, I Never Went Back is a series of six images taken from twenty of the only photographs Towfiq’s father brought with him from Iran the day he had to leave. Her work speaks to the loss of identity and place that come with migration. One of the images in this series is of her father surveying the land to build a road in Tafresh, Iran. This photograph speaks to looking into the past while also looking at the landscape of Iran during the revolution and imagining a future.
